bridesmaid flower- mixed media

so here is one of the mixed media flowers for the bridesmaids. i chose flowers because you can pick what you want- and the bride chooses who she would want for her bridesmaids. the petal paper is from a prayer book and the leaves are some of the same sheet music i used in the invitations. i used yupo paper and inks, washi tape and sewing. i will show a few more this week for anyone who would like to see a few more....

new art journal post

bound with fabric and sewing, this art journal will soon be complete....

i got to play yesterday for just a bit and had gotten a new glimmer mist- the blueish, green through the middle and a new little stencil. i am really liking the new color. this pic is not doing the colors justice.

i like painting on paper because you can just cut out what your like and leave the rest. :) so the stapled very color piece is out of a failed watercolor painting of a pear. that painting didn't work when i used my "what if i did this?...." apparently i asked that question too many times, because at the end, i had had a good time, but, the painting was a disaster....oh, well, that when you get out the scissors and take the parts you like!

teapot

i started with wire for the armature to hold my paper. i used two different types- a light gauge and something heavier to be the main support.
i wanted to use tissue paper for the outside of my "teapot." i used white paper that i painted with watercolor. if you do this, move quickly and gently with the paint to your paper, as the tissue paper can be delicate. let this dry before applying to your armature.

i used a 50/50 mix of matte medium and water to stick and apply my tissue paper. you have to be a little careful, as the tissue paper can be delicate to apply, but, not too bad. you could use modge podge if you don't have any matte medium. i also used some glimmer mist to add a little glitz.

here is my lid...it is drying. same process...wire up your support and paper.

here is my finished teapot all ready to go to the tea party show. it looks a little like the teapot that jack built (heehee...) oh, well, i am never perfect and this wasn't suppose to be either. i like the quirky shape and handle.

my spout is not necessarily 3 dimensional, but, i decided that was ok too. that part is almost translucent- i couldn't get a good pic of that though. anyway- hope you enjoyed the teapot! do you have a teapot, teacup, or something related to tea? share a link in the comments and join this tea movement!

girlie grad card

i found the orange hunk of string and thought the color was so wonderful it should be used for  something. it found a home on the front of this girlie grad card. i also used a zebra template and grey spray paint and glimmer mist and some stitching with my sewing machine.

have i told you  how much i like this stamp?! i know...just get over it right? well, for the girls, i normally do the above.

and of course a matching envelope. this one maybe is not my most dressed up, but, it is still cute and matches the card.

graduation card teasers

i went to my mom's studio space yesterday and we sweatshopped it making graduation cards yesterday. we punched 2 different size book page circles.

i used a swipe of chalboard paint on the cards.

we then followed up with drips of grass green ink and sprays of gold glimmer mist. we got close to finishing yesterday but, not quite. so this is a tease of what we were using.....hope you will stop back to see the finished product very soon! happy thursday!

newbies

i made my journal page last night with my new german papers my mom brought home for me (the black heart and the cream polka dot heart); i finally purchased some glimmer mist- i got the purple so that is the background color; i also used this gold glimmer spray i had picked up on clearance- that is what the brown box packaging is from. i loved the words: "designed for mixed-media exploration" and the little tab on the other page says, "art doesn't tranform, it just plain forms" by Roy Lichtenstein. i had gotten a new blue paint that i painted onto tape on another piece, that i then took off, and decided needed to go onto my journal page. thanks so much for looking!
