truth {canvas with a letter}

truth....even though i told you with my new year's possibilities post that we all do i do- receive rejection letters for submissions.....

i can't lie- when you get one of these "unfortunately" letters, it still feels like a bit of a sucker punch to the gut... you glanced away for a moment and pow- right to the gut.

but, just like i said, this opportunity is a chance to grow. and if you never will never know. you will never see your work in a magazine or book.

i thought it was so timely for me to have received my piece back after just talking about this with my post. and so, even though i am licking my wounds this morning- this is life. and this is the life of an artist. not everything will be magical.

not everything will be published.

more simplicity {cards; 2017 word}

two more simplicity cards.

i have been contemplating a word for 2017 as i have watched others choosing theirs. i was thinking maybe i wouldn't choose one this year, but a repeated word keep surfacing.

we recently had a water issue, and as we were cleaning and washing- i kept thinking to myself....why do i have this? i have not used this in how long.....(and this isn't even in the regular storage area). dang it.

every time i start thinking i am going to just get rid of stuff, i look through to repackage and then think, oh- i really like this. but, i don't have a spot for it or i'm not using it any more.

time to share with others and just get rid of it. no opening boxes; or open boxes, just to add to and unless it is some sort of a family item and i haven't used it.....gone.

this would be my word. and more importantly, my goal for 2017.

have a word for 2017? let me know.

possibilities {2017}

happy new year

may this year bring you:

personal wellness
peace of mind; happiness
may it bring you messy, paint filled brushes
days of picking matte medium off of your fingers
daydreams full of creative ideas
push; ask why not? and then do it
be not afraid to make something ugly; know that we all do- and sometimes that is the best to reflect upon; life is not perfect

make yourself go to the studio; even if all you do is sit and look at the mess....take it all in and let your mind wander and know that even if it is just for a few minutes- this moment is for you

thank you so very much for following this blog or simply stopping by.
