too much {play}

so this was my second sheet of play with my mom...didn't save my whites; and then, we went a little crazy. my mom helped paint on this one too.

in the words of Mr. Gerald Brommer, "Kristin, this is what your scissors are for."

words of wisdom sometimes.

experimenting {mom's studio}

hung out at my mom's studio yesterday.....do you snapchat? find me (kristin peterson) to watch my story.

she had a technique we tried- this top one is mine and the bottom is hers.

i am thinking i will cut mine up and she was going to leave hers as a full sheet.

the bright colors make me happy.

happy monday.

nude {drawing}

ventured into the big city to meet my mom and go to drawing last night at augustana university. there is something about being in a classroom setting and using the wooden seat and drawing your model.

the pic above is one that my mom and i shared. we each had drawn ours and then, part way through we traded to paint on each others. a joint effort if you will....

and this last one, is all mine. i have gone to drawing in the past and quickly learned to not judge {myself} while at drawing. the artist to my right worked in pastels and of course, managed to capture all of the soft loveliness of our model in beautiful shades of neutral. of course.

i know my limitations and chose to work to the top of my abilities. and those are line, simplicity and color. i don't want to be a photo realist.

i am a mixed media, abstract artist.

amen.

tgif. happy friday- happy st paddy's day.

a gasp, u-turn {unexpected act of kindness}

this past weekend i happened to be in texas and we went exploring on sunday. we had made a quick stop in a small, but very quaint town called johnson city.

when we left johnson city heading for fredericksburg, along the way we passed this totally awesome barn. i did a gasp and said- we have to go back.....as my husband kept driving.

and a short distance later, he did a u-turn and we were heading back.

what a site, in all of its' white-dreaminess. i want to live there. seriously.

i love it all...... there were rusty-cool trucks parked on the yard....

open porchs.....

and i can't forget the best planters! full of veggies and flowers.

and-  if all of this wasn't enough....the clothing.....i was looking at the clothing and had tried on an apron and discovered a light spot on the front. i didn't think it really detracted from the piece, but the sales gal said she would have to check if they had another one.

always looking for a good deal, i asked if i could just get a discount. when the little gal came back she said it was mine. mine? what is the discount?

the owner and creator of the clothing, Magnolia Pearl, was downstairs and gave the apron to me for free. free.

thank you for your kindness. feeling so blessed.

a gasp, u-turn, and an unexpected act of kindness.
