29 faces 2014 challenge: days 21, 22, & 23

i was about fit to be tied after not being able to go down to my studio for a few days....so when i got there, there was a sigh of relief. i love walking in and seeing my stuff just sitting there waiting for me to go to work. this was the view of my work table.

i was a few days behind on my 29 faces, but, quickly went to work and created my faces. this was from a model post. i used gesso on a portion of the page to see how my new stabilo pencil would work on gesso. my left eye was on gesso and the right is not- which do you like better? i think i like the left one....but, cannot quite decide.

for this face, i used my gelli plate to print the background first layering a few colors with stencils. then, used my stabilo pencil, and black and white india ink.

on my day 23 i had used a number stencil on the gelli plate and simply printed off the stencil onto my paper. i loved the perspective of her in the picture. i may have to try her one more time. the pic was taken looking up so her chin was very pronounced. i used my stabilo pencil, black and white india ink on her.

so here is one of the mixed media flowers for the bridesmaids. i chose flowers because you can pick what you want- and the bride chooses who she would want for her bridesmaids. the petal paper is from a prayer book and the leaves are some of the same sheet music i used in the invitations. i used yupo paper and inks, washi tape and sewing. i will show a few more this week for anyone who would like to see a few more....

mixed media "love"

the board is a "rescue" (one of many for me....before i knew it- i had a pile in front of me. i may need some therapy. :)) from a friend who was taking a pick up load to the dump.

i am really liking the pencil and black ink.

how my garden is growing

my flowers started with five 4 inch circles from a vintage chemistry book.  i cut out 30 flowers.

i rubbed each circle on an ink pad. i used a bunch of different colors...pink, purple, blue, green....

once the circles were inked, i picked out a vintage button for the center and punched holes in the paper to attach.

i used a small, 32 gauge wire to attach my button centers twisting the wire together in the back to make sure the button was secure.

this is my pile of flower in waiting....

once the button was attached, i scrunched the paper into a little bundle around the button, and then, peeled back the paper to leave some wrinkles in the paper to make the pedals. i attached a larger, stronger wire for the stem using a 18 gauge. these flowers will be part of my centerpieces for the graduation party.
