recap {last week; day one}

the last week of june i attended an art class: stamp carving and making papers. we had a fantastic time. great group of people and wonderful teacher, jennifer stone- full of tips and tricks and thorough explanations. you can see her schedule and other artists that she is bringing in.

the stamps below are her most-fabulous stamps....the one closest in the pic actually say, "steal....and you die."

it is soooo almost worth the risk........love that one.

her's below are made from moo carve. this is nice to carve as it is relatively easy to carve into versus the huge erasers from the dollar store. the erasers work too, but, a bit more difficult to carve.

and then there is fun-foam! have you made stamps with fun foam? this is quick and so easy!  you just need to have the sticky foam. super fun!

i did circles....(happiness.....).

we used our stamps to stamp on papers to use in other things. such as my work below. this is early on but, you can see that i used my circle stamped paper in this one.

i turned the piece- but, below is the final version of this work.

fun foam stamps.....

happy humpday!

finished piece {class}

i can hardly explain how much fun i had at class last weekend....this is my finished piece.

it is basically some of the various papers i made; a scribble of black stabilo pencil spritzed with water, and some scratchy doodles of a regular pencil.

amen.

happy thursday.

class {weekend}

so this past weekend i was the pupil. and what a treat! we made stamps and tinted papers on friday. above is one of the stamps i made.

and i am just gonna say.....love it!

then, on saturday we made papers. and made papers. papers.

did i tell you that we made papers?!....oh- cuz we made papers. i came home with a stack of papers that i cannot wait to use. (in fact, i think i feel a cold coming on....maybe i better stay home....)

so above and below are a portion of my papers i made.

and the studio space we worked in........aaaaahmazing! it is filled with her art and these totally adorable little gardens.

there is just cool stuff there.....fabulous art to look at, lovely plants, interesting and colorful mixed yarn blankets, a pile of art books and this wonderful pillow below, and windows to die for.

simply said, a wonderful space to create.

below was our instructor Jennifer Stone.

she is the best. great demos and explanations and plenty of help while you are working to keep you on track and be successful!

thank you Jennifer for the best weekend!

ladies {a bonus lesson}

i had found something of a stride for teaching on day two. this was my morning shot before we started. (notice the most important thing on the desk- the large coffee cup.)

this was my lovely group of students who had taken my art journaling class. they just did a fantastic job! very attentive- really taking everything in.

making a "lady" below was our extra bonus lesson on sunday; and the ladies above dove right in.

this was the students at hard work sunday morning.

and below are the fine "ladies" that we all  made- aren't they fabulous?! (i know, i know.....i may be a bit bias....)

and this was my lovely host- Jennifer Stone. she is extremely talented and a very gracious host.

thank you for all your hard work and making this class a reality!

happy monday.

altered book

i have been at an altered book class the past two days. the class was taught by a long-time good friend of mine- Jennifer Stone...who is incredibly talented....and in her A-mazing studio space!

this is the cover of my book below. (we had to try and choose a cardboard book from her vast collection of fun shapes and sizes.)

i had such a fantastic time on thursday gluing, doodling, and painting- that i spent the night and took the class again on friday! the class was really for anyone at any level and Jennifer did just a wonderful job explaining the process and answering questions as she went and helping anyone that needed any assistance.

here are a few pics from the rest of my book.....

my book is not quite done- i still have a few pages left to do something with....but, according to Jennifer, the book are never, ever quite done..... she told us that even in the books that may look done- she still grabs those, and finds herself adding something to a page. the books literally have to be taken out of her hands when sold to stop the process.

happy saturday! hope you are busy creating something!
