would be ok {she/ art journal}

she would be ok.

she would.

knew september would be difficult. feel like i have been holding my breath as i moved through the month.

slowing letting that breath out and inhaling again.

mixed feeling about going to the studio (damn doubt hanging on the edge, trying to creep in); but knowing i would feel better if all i did was even sit down there. i was right. the sounds of my music playing. the smell with my little burner on. the colors and controlled (ok- maybe not so controlled) chaos of the permanent stage of my studio. yep.

i would be ok.

happy pre-weekend.

#29faces {september 2015}

i have been playing when i can....here are two more faces for this challenge.

i dabbed orange paint off my fingers from another project....apparently all over this page before i had started my face. i so like the strip of ephemera i glued down through the middle- you can kinda see it and i love that subtly.

this one i mixed watercolor and acrylics with stabilo pencils. i like the "shadows" of her face in the blue. i used M. Graham & Co- phthalocyanine blue. it is one of my favorite watercolors and i use it directly out of the tube onto my brush and alot of water. this color is sooo delicious! the pink on her lips is a pink stabilo pencil and the green and pink around her eyes are both acrylic. i had gesso'd this page to begin with as well- that helped with the charm of the blue and how it ran and dried.

happy hump day!

29 faces {september edition}

i had been waiting for the 29 faces to start again so i could participate. i truly enjoyed this past spring even with my personal struggles in the middle portion....and a bit of an ominous start here....see her skeptical eye? wondering why i gave her green skin? why do i think i can do this? can't she have more hair? and what is with all of those wrinkles- do i have to draw those in too?

i missed day one, but, started on day 2 and did today for day 3. i am hoping to find my mojo again.....as i seem to be a bit lost...too heavy with the pencil and charcoal.

i did truly begin to appreciate the practice everyday thing- and need to stick with it this time. it may seem difficult to get started but, once you get going you have it and it will grow. i have grown a fondness for drawing/ painting faces. now i am not saying that the faces are perfect or beautiful, but, i have had a good time and that should count for something.

here is to 29 faces....so glad you are back.

one little word- "do"

i was selected for the design team for one little word last month. a team member picks a word and then we create something that fits with that word. words are so powerful.....we each got to pick a word; in fact my turn isn't until march, 2014....but, our word for september was "do."

i like the fact that we have creative freedom. we can make anything that our creative hearts desire....scrapbook page, art journal page, tag, whatever.

i always have to think a bit and let the creative process work its' course. i normally, start and work on other things and an idea will emerge. and that was exactly what happened with this month's word. while i was looking for other words/ phrases, i found some key thoughts and pulled those out to put together. check out below.....

 i loved the permissions......take a moment today and day dream; do some merry-making, and let your vivid imaginations run wild!
 this is a view of my whole project for "do."
and here is a bit of a close up....i played on yupo paper with acrylic paints, ink, paper, and sewing. i loved the colors.

do you want to play along? there is a link at the bottom of the post there to play along. if you do- please make sure to let me know so i can take a peak!
