you can always try to bury those stories {art journaled}

above is the ink that bled through my art journal page. i gesso'd over part of it, but, the ink bled through anyway.

some of those stories that are created are meant to live onto other pages- their story needs to continue to be told.

so above is where i started.

i did add a bit more hot pink to the ink; sometimes it is best to embellish the story.

i loooove the hot pink, lime green and that dirty orange. does that make me weird?! (don't answer that.....)

a couple of glimpses at the rest of the page...

you can always try to bury those stories....

happy wednesday.

art journal- warm up

i did find just a few moments on saturday in the studio this past weekend, even with the holiday. i love walking into my space to find my paint brushes and pens and pencils all lined up waiting for me.

i worked in an art journal to get warmed up and then, on a couple things that were due. i had gotten a new turquoise paint that i am really loving.....

for this journal page, i used a little acrylic paint and my spray inks and of course, stencils.

i had gesso'd the pages before i began and i love the variation of the paint and inks when it sits on the gesso and then finds just paper. if you have not experimented with this- you should really play in a journal with gesso and how it affects your work and the products that you use.

happy monday!

#DLP {challenge #2- the beginning}

i am going to be honest here....i have had some technical difficulties as of late. apparently i downloaded something "really good" due to a quick click of the mouse... so i am hoping i am back online without any difficulties.....

so i am playing catch up on my blog and the Documented Life Project. the second challenge was gesso, and "the beginning is always today" Mary Shelley.

it really is always today.....go to the studio (or table in the dining room, spare room; where your creative tools are) start, play, create.

i let the inks run and blend with the damp gesso to help create this background; writing the quote to remind myself that today (or any day...) is always a good day for art... to begin... to create.... something. listen to those little whispers.... and do whatever may make you happy.

i loved the color runs on these pages, and these pages were really about the creating something. about whatever my little creative heart felt at that moment. which apparently was with paper scraps and washi tape and pencil doodles.

it is really a happy little eye-candy, colorloved, doodled joy.....are you documenting?.... begin today.

square love

i have been so enjoying painting smaller lately. painting up more of the matboard tiles, including more mini's, and i found 6"x 6" wooden cradles i had bought, and painted those up too.

just like almost everything, i put down a skim coat of gesso to start and worked from there. the wooden cradles paint different than canvas and if you use an ink on the cradle without gesso the ink will be absorbed by the wood.

as a point of interest- i only the gesso the actual front panel and not the sides. i like how if the ink or wet paint runs off the front panel that it is absorbed by the sides of the cradle.

on this bottom cradle i used a strip of painted paper and attached to the board after i had gotten my background done. and can you see i have had a circle obsession?....can't seem to help myself, but, i love them....

happy friday!
