working wet- being brave

i started a painting on a wooden cradle and kept working and layering to still have it look like crap. i don't know what moved me to work wet again but, this painting was in dire need of some help. i took a step off of the safe side and i went brave yesterday- covering the panel with a small but, thick, heavy amount of the colors i had chosen, a lot of water, and working through the process.

working wet is a trick as the paint can be lifted, pooled, pushed, resisted and it can be hard to control, long to dry and can be frustrating as sometimes things move easily that you don't want to move.

i loved the gold and alcohol inks as those resisted the water and were interesting to get to sit back down.

loved how this one turned out because the journey to this point was long. happy monday.

mixed media flower on canvas

on friday this past week, i got to go and hang out with my mom and paint at her studio for the day. the female forms that i posted earlier this week were some of what i painted, but, the other painting i got done that day was this flower.

i like painting with my mom, especially at her studio...we have similar art interests and painting styles, but, do select different colors to purchase and paint with; so when i paint there, i have to use colors that sometimes i have not painted with- which at times, challenges me.

how my garden is still growing- a painting

loving the texture and scrapes in the paint....

and the bits of collage...
and this is the whole painting that has been "cooking" for a while. it was a follow up to my initial "how my garden grows." you can see the other painting here.   i finally figured out what it needed and was inspired to finish it. the colors make me happy-  thank goodness for studio time on the weekends!!

listening....

this painting made it was back home for some reason and i listened to my whispers,...and they told me to paint over the painting.

my pics are not doing this justice- because i really like the greens with little hints of gold and big hints of magenta. i added the light blue polka dots. oh, and the word listen-....that is what i am doing. my artist inside was actually yelling to paint over this one.

some of the magenta i left pretty thick. i like being able to layer up and then, find those thick spots and have them come back through. we shall see what this ends like....later.
