when i travel it is so hard being a mixed media artist, as you can never bring enough art supplies; and then, there are the travel restrictions on what you can bring and the size....

so when i travel, i only take a few things which pushes me outside of my comfort zone and forces me to use different things to create.

the initial drawing was also drawn with my eyes closed; as long as i am pushing......may as well push a little more.....

traveled this last week to san diego; was hoping for warmer weather....

my art travel bag includes:

• planner, 2017
• black ink pen; roller ball and felt
• watercolor pencils

travel & doodles {planner art}

flower doodles in my planner. regular black ink pen with finger-painted watercolor

this last weekend i traveled to texas. 

it was a busy weekend; but i always pack a small art travel bag to take along. 

what do i pack in this bag?

• 2017 planner- i like to write while i travel as well; nothing serious....observations while in the airport; up coming plans; brain storming ideas; anything that comes to mind
• watercolor pencils- only my favorite colors; turquoise, green, pink, orange.....
• thin markers- only one or two colors; my favorite is Jane Davenport's turquoise
• child's watercolor palette- you know the one..... yellow plastic with the clear top and only 8 color pans with the crappy brush (interesting to even try to paint with that brush)
• stabilo pencil in black
• black ink pen- any regular black ink pen will do
• pigma micron 03 black ink pen

this was the evening sky on saturday after a day of racing while we waited to see justin timberlake.....(justin timberlake....)

but back to reality- 

temps in texas- 80's

temps in minnesota- 50's with a super stiff wind; with snow threatening today

i managed to find a very cool sized daily planner.

to keep me organized?! nooooo....well maybe. my purpose was to do regular journaling, writing and if i happened to make some art in it.....great!

i was jotting down some notes while in the airport and then drew her.

ink, colored watercolor pencil, and Jayne Davenport's new white (well mine might not be any more) marker.

documented life {magazine challenge}

i found some studio time yesterday and wanted to work in my moleskin planner. i wanted to complete the week 12 challenge to cut up a magazine and add.....i had recently gotten some great magazines and knew that they would provide some great inspiration. i decided that that i liked the words and year and worked with those; adding some circles of words after many, many layers of wet paint and spray inks. this planner is never going to shut.....
