tgif {tag-it}

tgif.

tag-it! i loooooove painting on used file folders and the whole point is to create a hot mess! how many times do you hear that you need to focus on the composition; clear focal spot?

sometimes don't you just want to grab that paint and go to town?! i say yes! make that hot mess and love it! because just as Mr Gerald Brommer told me, "kristin, that is what scissors are for."

yep- you heard it. create a hot mess and cut it down to a nice size to make it look fabulous!

happy friday.

art journaling {private lesson}

put that private art journaling lesson into the books
  • why do i art journal?
  • gesso; not perfectly, but, get that stuff onto your page
  • pick that first color- that will set the tone of the page and will dictate some of your color choices (unless you know when you can break the rules)
  • collage- and remember those poor pieces of paper need friends (thank you Karen Knutson for that lesson)
  • other options to use and try
  • water; alcohol (not the kind you drink.....well, maybe the kind you drink....)
  • lights; darks
  • this is one time when it is good to be a bit of a hot mess
happy thursday.

pre & post {wet technique}

working on a painting and had gotten to a point where i felt like i had too much paint on the canvas and wondered what would happen if i used alcohol to pool and move whatever was on top.

watch my short video below. (find me on youtube); felt like i may have just ruined all that work.....

but, in the end- i love what i ended up with. sometimes you have to take that big step to find the love. i liked the early stage, but, i certainly didn't love it.....big steps=love.

don't love too early.

the words written into the paint say, "the plan is not always ours to understand."

truth.

happy wednesday.

collage {and pencil on paper}

layered collage on watercolor paper and then added pencil.

(i had an overwhelming feeling that i needed to add the pencil- it was just all too neat.)

loving the colors on this one- a few easter pastels spilling onto the paper.
