i taught an art journaling class this past weekend in watertown, sd in a beautiful studio. my hostess could not have been more gracious and her studio was the perfect setting.

mix n match postcards

i picked some of my favorite art journal pages and made the pages into postcards.

the postcards are available in 2 different sizes- 6"x 4" or a 5.4"X 4.2".

the postcards have a matte finish and blank backs. the cards are intended to be a "mix and match" so grab a few.

you can use the postcards to send a note or cut the cards, punch a hole and make tags. the cards can be used in any of your mixed media projects. 

the colors are playful and you can almost feel the texture on the card.

above is the ink that bled through my art journal page. i gesso'd over part of it, but, the ink bled through anyway. 

some of those stories that are created are meant to live onto other pages- their story needs to continue to be told. 

so above is where i started.

i did add a bit more hot pink to the ink; sometimes it is best to embellish the story. 

i loooove the hot pink, lime green and that dirty orange. does that make me weird?! (don't answer that.....)

rethink everything {art journal}

rethink everything you know about art journaling.

• think hot mess; why does it have to be neat and clean?
• or planned out? i try to be a planner, but, it never works- so no more planning; move in the moment and go with how you feel and react right then
• if you glued something down, who says it has to stay on that page? rub, peel and rip that back off. that rubbed off paper stuffs looks great on other pages
• gold makes everything look good; sprinkle that shit everywhere

want to learn about color, collage and mixing mediums; movement, layers and mark making?

i will be teaching an art journaling class called Art Journaling Statements  on august 27 and 28 in Watertown, SD at Jennifer Stone's fabulous studio. there are only a few spots left. let me know if you are interested.

i resume my normal blog {art journaling}

busy week, this past week.....

• move all furniture out of living room and family room- check
• remove old carpet- check
• have new pad installed- check
• have new carpet installed- check
• 2 kids to oral surgeon for wisdom teeth removal at 630 friday- check
• tend to pain meds- check
• provide soft food- check
• cook more soft food (running out of ideas....)- check

i have the periscope app and have watched several other people live on periscope and really liked it. i recently watched Mystele's video- she was so cute and inspired me to try it.

i had to try a couple of times and some kind soul told me "this sucks."

so a bit gun shy now...we shall see.

so, if i have learned anything, it is that not everyone will play nice in the sandbox.

this is where my pages ended...and i like them and to me- the pages most definitely do no suck.

art journal {midcalf}

it is always about the midcalf...

sewing swag {custom make-up bag}

i had been saving this fabric ribbon with the rooster for something special. 

and this custom bag for a very special friend was it.

this is the front of the bag.

loving these recycled t-shirt green circles.

this is the end cap and matches the small ruffle on the front because everything needs a bit of black.

this is the back. i had saved the fabric design edge and thought it was just what this bag needed.

the bags are all completely custom. i don't use a pattern, rather just cutting what i need and matching it up to fit the needs of the person.
